Barnsley House is your very own stately home located in the heart of the Cotswolds, set in landscaped gardens and surrounded by breathtaking views. An exclusive country house like no other with elegant rooms, a luxurious spa and even an onsite cinema!

  • Extensive landscape gardens
  • Spa and private cinema
  • Elegant and luxurious rooms
  • Adult-only

Spend your day unwinding in the house and exploring the grounds featuring knot gardens, statues by Simon Verity, the Laburnum Walk and an ornamental fruit and vegetable garden. With its adult-only policy (no children under 14) and enviable position in the Cotswolds countryside, this is a hotel perfect for romantic getaways and honeymoons, special occasions and spa breaks.

Barnsley House offers a quintessentially English retreat but with the addition of a fun cinema where you can spend an hour or two catching up on the latest movies.

A winding pathway will take you from the main house, through Barnsley House gardens and eventually to a few steps that carry you down to the luxurious spa and outdoor heated hydrotherapy pool. Inside the spa, the garden and outside elements have been carried through by designer Stephen Woodhams. Wooden beams, Cotswold stone and plants connect the inside to the outdoors. The spa is secluded, quiet and uncompromisingly peaceful with a host of indulgent treatments to soothe your senses and provide a space of calm, peace and tranquility.

Rosemary-infused oil, freshly-baked breads, fresh Barnsley garden vegetables and Cotswolds local produce is all on offer at Barnsley House with exquisite dining in The Potager restaurant and The Village Pub.

Barnsley House is perfectly located to explore the Cotswolds, only a short distance from Cirencester, Painswick, Minchinhampton and Bibury.

Elegant rooms and suites mix period features with contemporary furnishings, and offer en suite bathrooms (with flat-screen TVs), WiFi, surround-sound hi-fi systems, and minibars. Some feature spiral staircases and free-standing baths; upgraded suites offer private gardens.

Bedrooms 3, 5 and 12 are superior rooms. 3 and 5 in the main house overlook our front lawn and landscaped garden, whilst 12 is a ground floor bedroom within the stableyard, overlooking the water garden.

Bedrooms 14, 15 and 16 are the Stableyard Rooms – 14 and 16 are split over two floors with spiral staircases winding towards their large luxurious bathrooms, whilst 15 has also been designed across two floors but with the bedroom upstairs and a Turkish bathtub on the ground floor – think long, lazy, bubble-soaked relaxation!

Bedrooms 17, 18 and 19 are spacious suites split across two levels. All have large gallery lounges, showers designed as walk-in wet rooms, and whilst 17 and 18 have roll top baths at the end of the bed, 19 has a jacuzzi in the living room!

Bedrooms 1, 2 and 6 are the Deluxe Garden Rooms at Barnsley House. Situated in the main house with striking views over the famous Barnsley House garden, each is spacious with a comfortable lounge area and open plan bedroom with en-suite contemporary bathrooms complete with double sinks, bathtubs (rooms 1 and 2 only) and separate walk-in showers.

Rooms start from £200 per room per night, based on two guests sharing a superior double or twin, including VAT. Teens over 14 are welcome.

The Potager restaurant serves delicious, fresh and seasonal food all day. Offering a very tempting menu all year round, the food is of an excellent quality and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. What's more, all vegetables, salads and herbs are grown and picked on site (where possible) – you don’t get much fresher than that!

The Village Pub is a traditional village pub at the heart of the community, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and contemporary service. The food is first-class, featuring classic English pub dishes combined with touches of contemporary cuisine.
