Perched proudly on its own hilltop in the stunning Dordogne is the elegant, luxurious complex of Château Mont-d’Onel. Magnificent views, an historic 13th century château and gîtes, wonderful outdoor facilities including a seasonal heated swimming pool, tennis court and petanque terrain, and an exclusive adults-only policy make Château Mont-d’Onel perfect for a relaxing, indulgent getaway.
- Sumptuously decorated rooms that epitomise traditional French chic
- A boutique bed and breakfast experience with hotel facilities
- Stunning views of the Dordogne
- Close proximity to a typically French village
Château Mont-d’Onel has seamlessly combined a luxurious, exclusive resort with the charm and personal touch of a family run operation. Set in 80 acres of parkland and woods, you are invited to soak in the peace and tranquility of the surroundings with the option to explore the Dordogne.
A five minute walk down a private footpath leads you into the historic town of Couze-et-Saint-Front, where you will find all of the joys of French village life. Couze offers three excellent restaurants, two bars, two small grocery shops, a pharmacy and local walks, amongst other facilities. The town is also home to Moulin de la Rouzique Econo-Musée du Papier, an interactive museum which recounts Couze’s place at the heart of paper making in France.
Famed for its market culture and quaint villages, the Dordogne is a food and wine lover’s paradise. Steeped in history, from the multitude of prehistoric caves, including Lascaux, to the numerous medieval castles, the Dordogne offers much to be discovered. For the outdoor enthusiast there is abundant cycling, canoeing, and hiking to enjoy. There is simply no better place to soak up the culture of rural France.
The chateau comes with five spacious en-suite rooms boasting a luxurious super king Relyon bed (or two large singles), fine Egyptian cotton linens, tea and coffee making facilities, a personal mini-fridge and flat screen television, as well as toiletries and towels (including pool towels).
- Chambre de la Palisse
A classic room with generous proportions, an elegant en-suite bathroom and a comfortable seating area.
- Chambre de Pourquery
A magnificent ground floor room which maintains glorious views across the valley from both the bedroom and en-suite bathroom thanks to the château’s dramatic eastern elevation.
- Chambre Saint Martin
A truly enormous room which feels more like a suite with separate sleeping and sitting areas, a large en-suite bathroom and some of the best views of the town and the Dordogne River itself.
- Chambre Janssens
Another room with a wonderful duel aspect which looks south across the sweeping lawn and east across the Couze and Dordogne Valleys. Add to that a colossal travertine en-suite bathroom, which is larger than most hotel rooms; elegance and opulence awaits you in the Chambre Janssens.
- Chambre Rocher
Named after the family that added this grand tower to the château in 1906, this spacious room with a large en-suite bathroom in travertine tile also offers two king sized beds or four singles, thus sleeping two to four people. The views throughout the château are incredible, but in the tower the views are literally taken to another level – wake up to the Dordogne valley in all of its glory laid out before you.
