Deep within the heart of Umbria, in the municipality of Parrano, you will find a charming luxury spa hotel with a difference; the kind of hotel that opens your heart to a slower, more mindful pace of life.

  • Rustic luxury at its finest
  • Monastic vibe of a bygone era
  • Yoga, meditation and spa facilities
  • Healthy organic vegetarian and vegan cuisine
  • Digital detox with no television or Wi-Fi

If you’re looking for a digital detox in a romantic, pleasantly peculiar setting, Eremito is for you. Daily yoga sessions, organic healthy cuisine and splendid views of the rolling countryside make for a perfectly relaxing getaway.

Standing on a hill surrounded by 3,000 hectares of countryside, you’ll find a converted 14th-century monastery offering a minimalist, back-to-basics experience where guests are encouraged to regenerate and focus on their wellbeing, harmony and inner peace. A luxury of days gone, the almost forgotten luxury of being able to relax without being disturbed by technology, in a true oasis of calm and tranquillity where your gaze can wonder afar.

The hotel’s monastic vibe is perfect for those seeking solitude in a rural setting, or wish to take time out for a relaxing break from modern day life.

In keeping with the authenticity and traditional beauty of the building, Eremito is an innovative structure, architecturally and spiritually, paying tribute to the authentic original splendour of a bygone era.

Built from scratch with thousands of stones and bio materials, the thick stone walls keep it cool in summer and warm in winter, with lighting provided mostly by candlelight after dusk.

Inside the monastery you will find a welcoming haven of cushions, futons and antique wooden furnishings and a small library, as well as a cave and a chapel located in the little tower for moments of meditation and prayer. Unwind in the small, heated pool dug out from a rock and take a few moments in the steam room made entirely from stone. The relaxation area has been designed as a calming sanctuary where you can find an equilibrium for the mind, body and soul.

Various outdoor activities can be organised in the surrounding area from countryside walks, horseback riding and icon painting to a fasting and colon detox, yoga and meditation courses, and a workshop in Gregorian chanting.

Eremito maintains the austere essence of ancient monasteries with 14 simple yet perfectly comfortable rooms housed in the former monks’ cells. Rooms feature underfloor heating, a French sized bed and a small bathroom with a shower, together with antique handmade hemp bed linen and hand-embroidered duvet covers.

Although the basic comforts are in the room, you will not find a telephone, television or Wi-Fi. Instead you will find a comfortable desk made of stone by the window where one can be inspired while admiring the green valley or rose garden. The simplicity and back-to-basics ethos will encourage a more mindful experience – take the opportunity to reconnect and and embrace a slower pace of life.

Hotel rates start from £200 depending on season and include breakfast, lunch, dinner and parking.
